SmartSoft v2.0 for SmartFade and SmartFade ML now available!

ETC announces the release of the newest version of SmartSoft™, now compatible with all SmartFade® consoles. Previously only compatible with the SmartFade ML console, SmartSoft now supports connection to and simulation of the SmartFade 1248, SmartFade 2496 and SmartFade 1296 lighting control consoles with screens customized for each version of the product. Also, with this version, the SmartSoft application is compatible with both Windows XP/Vista PCs and Macintosh OS X computers. As always, the SmartSoft software and release notes are available for free download from the ETC Web site at www.etcconnect.com/smartsoft .

SmartSoft organizes show content and helps get beginners comfortable with the SmartFade and SmartFade ML consoles. SmartSoft lets users view, edit and build show data for SmartFade and SmartFade ML, in real-time via a USB connection to the console or offline. Its Live Output screen shows intensities and with SmartFade ML it also displays moving-light parameter values. SmartSoft can also be used offline with Capture visualization software from Capture Sweden (www.capturesweden.com), helping designers prepare shows well ahead of time.

Users of SmartFade and SmartFade ML consoles with SmartSoft choosing to upgrade to v2.0 will need to update both SmartSoft and their console software. The console software update can be found within a folder on the computer’s hard disk once SmartSoft has been installed, typically C:\\Program Files\ETC\SmartSoft\Firmware Updates (PC) or within the SmartSoft folder on a Mac.

APOLLO EXPANDS GREEN INITIATIVE

As a continuation of its green initiative, we announced at LDI ’08 our complete process switch to laser technology for all gobo production. Starting with steel gobos in 2007, laser technology is now being used to produce Apollo glass gobos. The change from chemical etching to laser technology eliminates thousands of gallons of hazardous waste annually.

"Working with laser technology for the past three years has been amazing," states President Joel Nichols. "The image consistency lasers provide will catch the user’s attention. The additional benefits to the environment and workplace safety that this technology provides make this change a win-win for everyone. With a transition to more eco-friendly packaging also in the works, we are extremely pleased to be delivering all of our gobos in a cleaner, safer way."

Product Reminder: MXR

Have you ever been picking your colors for a show and said… "I wish I could have a little brighter blue or a darker shade of green" …and the gel color wasn’t available? Apollo has a solution for you, the MXR color mixing scroller. Putting a new twist on two-string color mixing, the MXR’s innovative color selection and frame sequence maximize the useful colors. Off the shelf color works fine for many lighting applications, but the MXR gives you far more custom color options. Using the subtractive color mixing method to achieve the desired hue and saturation, hundreds of different colors can be realized. New Power Supplies

Apollo’s transition to our upgraded power supply line has begun. The old 150W and 250W have been replaced with the Smart Power 200. The list price is $695 and offers several improvements.
