The Zinman Company, which has already created a number of great apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch, has released another great app: Genielux.

Genielux allows iPhone & iPod touch users anywhere in the world to locate specific gear, connecting them with vendors like you, who have the gear available for rent or purchase. This is on-demand, location based search in your pocket!

This amazing iPhone app features our own proprietary code that identifies model numbers regardless of the format. Whether roman numerals or Arabic numbers, singular or plural, spaces between the words, or run them all together, Genielux will find the correct name and model!

Suppliers and rental houses have getting their info listed for a couple weeks, so now you, the user, can search inventory and product listings for vendors around the country, wherever you are! Best of all, the app is FREE!

Now that everyone has recovered from St. Patrick’s Day (our Grand Rapids office is next door to a local bar and right around the corner from an Irish Pub, so there’s plenty of "abandonded" cars in our lot this morning. We’re waiting for the inevitable "walks of shame"!), I’ll start with:

We are also happy to announce that our list of vendors that we are dealers for has expanded to include American DJ, along with Arriba Cases.

American DJ has been a leading manufacturer of low-cost club and DJ equipment for many years, and has been transitioning many of its products to LED technology.

With that in mind, we have added some American DJ Mega Panel LED fixtures to our rental inventory.

These fixtures have pretty decent output. Would I use them to light a cyc in a theatre? No. You can’t get a decent white light out of them and the beam spread isn’t that wide. Would I use them as accent lights to punch up a set piece or an event? Absolutely!

They can run off of as little as 3 DMX channels or as many as 26. Or they can run in different stand-alone modes, including sound activated!! (Perfect for you weekend basement raves! What? Doesn’t everyone do that?)

We’ve recently added some new vendors to our line card!

I’m very excited, particularly, about ProCo Sound. ProCo is based in Kalamazoo, MI and is one of the leading manufacturers of audio cables. Check out their website. They’ve got everything!

Also new is Mackie! Speakers, mixers, recording gear…

In this month’s newsletter from City Theatrical, they had a nice background article on why their fixture irises are the best. Good pictures of the manufacturing process, too. Here’s a link to the article.

City Theatrical also announced yesterday that they have acquired all designs and patents for Candle Lite Unlimited, for which they have been the exclusive distributor since the beginning. With this aquisition they plan on adding improvements and new technologies to these great flicker candles.

Our sales rep from Rosco stopped by for a quick visit last week. He brought along the Rosco X-Effects projector, which has now been replaced by the X24 X-Effects projector. It’s a little difficult to describe what it does, so take a look at the video clips on their website.

We have our Apollo Right Arm and ETC SmartFade ML set up in our Grand Rapids demo room. We will be part of our rental inventory once we’ve finished showing them off. If you haven’t seen them, make arrangements to stop by! The SmartFade ML is a great little moving light console, and the Right Arm is smooth as silk.
