Ultratec Special Effects has announced the release of their new Dry Icer Low Lying Fogger.

The Dry Icer is a New and Improved Professional, Cost Effective Solution for creating Spectacular Low-Lying Fog Effects. This sleek new design has a 20 pound Dry Ice capacity which is placed in a Stainless Steel Basket. Other new features are Low Water Shut Off Indicator, 4” Hose Adaptor and Heavy Duty Latches on the Lid. The Low-Lying Fog Output is controlled by lowering the Stainless Steel Basket with the 3 Step Pivoting Ratchet System. This will allow the basket to ease into the boiling water to create continuous Low-Lying Fog for approximately 5 minutes.

ETC Education has put together a series of training videos for their Ion console. When you purchase a new console you will receive the Fundementals 1 DVD, which can also be purchased through any of our offices, or watched online. Fundementals 2 will be available soon.

Good news for iPhone and iPod Touch users:

An agreement has been reached to add Apollo patterns and color filters to Wybron’s Moiré Gobo Library and Gel Swatch Library iPhone apps. After Apple approves these revisions, which could take up to three weeks, new downloads of these apps would then include Apollo gobos and gel. Current owners of the apps will receive notification of these updates.

I’ve been playing with both the Moiré and Gel Swatch apps, and they’re great tools to have.

New from Apollo:

Now available is a DMX version of the Smart Move Jr. gobo rotator. Fitting conveniently into the ETC Source 4 Jr. fixture, the Smart Move Jr. DMX offers all the features of the Smart Move plus DMX control and indexing of one S4J size metal or glass pattern. List price $445.00.

APOLLO DESIGN LOSES ITS NAMESAKE
With heavy hearts we announce the loss of our company’s beloved namesake. Apollo provided Joel & Keersten Nichols with great companionship for 23 years. While he no longer grazes the pastures of the Nichols’ homestead, Apollo’s name and image live on.

ETC has announced that they are officially taking orders for their new console, Element.

Based on ETC’s award-winning Eos® control system but with a simplified feature set in a stand-alone console, Element was designed expressly for modest rigs and maximum hands-on fader control. Affordable and easy to use, Element packs in the fundamentals of lighting control. Element comes in two hardware versions, based on fader count, to suit your rig. Each supports either 250 or 500 channels and two full universes of DMX output:

• Element 40 – 250 Channels
• Element 40 – 500 Channels
• Element 60 – 250 Channels
• Element 60 – 500 Channels

With the release of Element, ETC has also changed the Ion console into a quotations only item. ETC is also responding to end-user feedback, and will include training as part of the Ion pricing.

Italian lighting company SGM has announced the latest addition to their Palco line of LED fixtures. Adding to the already impressive Palco 5, which has an impressive array of 3 & 4.5 watt LEDs, is the Palco 5 Full Color LED:

Discovering new colour frontiers
Palco 5 Full Color, with lines and dimensions identical to the other models in the Palco range, is the sector’s latest technical evolution: a extraordinarily powerful fixture that can be used anywhere and is able to create washes and scenarios with an effectiveness and quality of illumination never seen before.

The latest evolution in LED
Palco 5 Full Color uses REBEL LED, a light source with a new concept and a maximum performance of 80 Lumens.
The Palco 5 has been designed in order to host 105 LED in a matrix of 35 lenses, each with a power of 9 Watts, enabling to obtain a total brightness of 5,500 lumens.
Plus, based on the application of REBEL LED, the fixture uses a brand-new colour mixing system, which enables to mix the red, blue and green Rebel LED with a single lens, thus occupying a minimum space.
Perfect light diffusion is ensured by a choice of three new different lenses that can be fitted: narrow, medium and wide.

New operating and mechanical performance
The result is a colorchanger able to generate much more powerful light beams, with exceptionally even colour on the illuminated surfaces and eliminating any coloured shadow defects. Perfect colour uniformity is also guaranteed even when viewing the fixture’s LED matrix directly from the front.
Palco 5 Full Color exceeds the already remarkable standards of the other units in the Palco fixture range, enabling to illuminate and colour increasingly large and far-off areas clearly.
The upgrade of the functions has gone hand and hand with mechanical progress: starting from the direct experience gained with the other fixtures in the range, SGM has made Palco 5 Full Color even more resistant to bad weather, thus greatly increasing the unit’s application possibilities.

Rosco is debuting 3 new colors to their line of Off-Broadway and Supersaturated lines of paint:

The most interesting of the new colors is Paynes Grey; a basic tool for any experienced scenics. Brilliant Red and Imperial Green round out the palette with vibrant color.
